We love Dr. Seuss in our house! The rhythmic rhymes and the whimsy pictures make Dr. Seuss one of our favorite authors. This one is not particularly strong in linear story, but it's an excellent way to help with early reading recognition.
Since the word "foot" is repeated several times, our children have started to recognize that word. This leads them starting to understand how reading works. We point it out, showing them how it's made of f-o-o-t. Then we try to get them to point out the letters themselves.
Sometimes we like to read this book, pointing out words. Sometimes we'll pause before the word "foot" and wait for the children to fill it in. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but at three and two we're just working on building awareness of words.
Overall, I would recommend this book for any budding reader's collection.
