My initiation to middle school began with books as my parents were literature enthusiasts. Although I had read several works for children by the likes of Enid Blyton, it was in middle school that I actually began to appreciate literature, particularly fiction and Harry Potter series introduced me to the wonderful world of fantasy.
Harry Potter series consists of seven books, each describing an academic year of an orphaned boy wizard named Harry Potter. Authored by J. K Rowling, five of the seven books have already been made into movies and the sixth will be out soon, titled 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince'. Reading these books has been a fantastic journey, a deep insight into a boy's life and watch him grow into a man. It provides ample entertainment to my nephews who take to enacting wizard duel scenes at family gatherings, thereby amusing us all.The best part of reading these books was the day the endless wait would end and the next book would come out. Most of us Potter fanatics would queue up before bookstores at midnight to grab one of the first few copies and strive to complete reading the book by the crack of dawn.
Harry Potter books have been a fantastic read to young and the old alike, particularly to me because the protagonist's life quite resembles my own. I'd recommend all parents to gift a Potter book to their kids and watch them grow up hand-in-hand with the beautiful world of books.
