I live just north of Hartford, Connecticut. The major newspaper in our region is The Hartford Courant. My husband and I have a subscription to this paper. The Courant does a very good job covering local stories, events and sports. This is where the paper really shines and is at it's best.
Where the paper loses points in the political area. The Courant is very slanted toward the left and frequently reports liberal opinion as fact. I am leaning to personally stop and listen to both the right and the left. The Courant seems to forget that this is part of its responsibility as a media outlet. They need to report fact instead of trying to influence the community to seeing things their way by reporting only opinion as if it's news.
I do enjoy other aspect of the paper. I've found many fun things for my husband and I to enjoy, such as shows and fairs. I've also found that many local stores place coupon ads in the Courant. I also love the fact that they have lots of coupons on Sunday- more than other papers I've had in other towns in the past. Taking this into account, I'd say it pays for itself.
