I'm a huge fan of NBC's mockumentary The Office; I think it's one of the best shows on television and easily the best comedy on right now. Of course, when a PC game based on the hit show was announced, I figured it would be nothing more than a lame attempt at cashing in on the property. Out of curiousity and against my better judgement, I tried it out anyway, only to find out that I couldn't have been more right.
The Office plays like a very watered-down version of Diner Dash, which is an excellent casual PC game. I have to admit that I held out a small amount of hope for the game, because Diner Dash has excellent game mechanics, but it even managed to ruin those by making the game far too simple and too easy.
The Office game is not fun at all and the characters bear little resemblance to their real-life counterparts. The only value the game holds at all is in the sometimes clever writing, but in no way does that redeem such an awful game.
