I recently finished reading The Pact, another of Jodi Picoults novels. Just like the others I have read, it too is wonderful. From the first chapter, Picoult grabs your attention and you can't help but want to keep turning the pages & reading more. I started reading the book one evening & by the next afternoon I was done because I simply couldn't put the book down, it was that good.
This book is about a boy (Chris) & a girl (Emily) who's families are best friends and have lived next door to each other for years. Chris & Emily have grown up together and not only are they best friends, but they also begin dating each other & eventually become lovers. But the girl has secrets in her past that haunt her and her feelings of being trapped in her life and even her relationship with Chris eventually overwhelm her to the point where she feels she has no other choice but suicide and in a desperate attempt to end her life, she tells Chris that she is going to kill herself and to protect himself & her after her death, he tells everyone that they had a pact to kill both of them.
This is a wonderful book and if you have read any of Jodi Picoult's other novels, you will enjoy this one just as much.
