This is another very funny book by Laura Levine, who has written a series of Jaine Austen Mysteries. Laura Levine has also written for some very funny sitcoms, among them The Bob Newhart Show, The Love Boat and Three's Company. She has done some very entertaining writing in her Jaine Austen mystery books.
Jaine is a freelance writer living in L.A. with her cat, Prozac. She befriends Pam when they meet in a store, and Pam invites her to become a member of the PMS Club, which is a support group of women (and one gay man) who get together to talk and share different things with each other. They usually meet at Rochelle's house, and Rochelle takes care of making guacamole and margaritas for the gang.
Marybeth is also a member of the club, but not very well liked. She is an eternally perky interior decorator who manages to say things to cause upset among the others in the group. It turns out that Marybeth is highly allergic to peanuts and every derivative of peanuts. Well, guess what? Peanut oil ends up in the guacamole and Marybeth bites the dust. So it's Jaine to the rescue. She must do some detective work to ferret out who wanted Marybeth dead, which isn't easy because no one was especially fond of her and various group members had motives for killing her.
This is a very entertaining and witty book. I found myself chuckling over many items in the story. If you are looking for a humorous and enjoyable mystery, The PMS Murder is just the ticket. All 245 pages are sure to amuse.
