We go to Disney World as often as we can. One of the things we enjoy doing is trying out the different resorts in Disney World.
I have wanted to try out the Polynesian Resort, also known as the Poly, for a while. It is part of the Deluxe resorts in Disney World and was too much we could afford.
We were able to save enough where we could spend 3 nights at the Poly. So we decided to split our stay between a value resort and then the last 3 nights of our vacation we moved over to the Poly.
I am so glad we did that. The Poly was beautiful. It is located on the shores of the Seven Sea Lagoon. The Great Ceremonial House is the lobby and where the stores and restaurants are located. The lobby is decorated as the tropics. I have heard some people complain it reminds them of the 70s style Brady Brunch in Hawaii, but I liked it.
The check in was a breeze and the cast members explained everything. We were told we were in the Samoa section, which was just a quick walk outside the Great Ceremonial House. Walking to our room we noticed the bamboo tiki torches along the grounds, those were a nice touch.
Our room was gorgeous! It had 2 queen beds, a day bed, small table and chair, TV, small fridge and a dresser. The room was nice in size.
The room had a Hawaiian feel to it. The room was clean and ready for us when we arrived.
I love being at the Poly for the convenient transportation to Disney's theme parks. The Poly is one of 3 deluxe resorts that are on the Monorail loop that takes you to the Magic Kingdom. I love staying at a resort that is hooked up to the Monorail. I can not tell you how convenient it is.
There is also a boat dock and a boat will take you the Grand Floridian, Disney's other resort and the Magic Kingdom.
The Poly is also about a 5 minute walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center, which you can easily catch the Monorail to Epcot there instead of waiting for the bus.
The Poly has a great pool for everyone. The best thing about the pool is hands down the volcano slide!
Back inside the Great Ceremonial House are two wonderful sit down restaurants, ‘Ohana and Kona Café, both are wonderful places to eat and my husband says the coffee at Kona's is one of the best he ever had. I can't vouch for that as I do not drink coffee so I will just take his word for it.
‘Ohana has a fun character meal for breakfast with Lilo and Stitch that we tried. The pineapple bread is delicious!
Even though we could not afford staying at the Poly for our whole vacation, I am glad we decided to at least stay here a few nights. We happened to have a discount code, so we got a deal on the price. Normally the prices start at around $300 a night, even with our discount we still paid slightly under $200 a night.
It is an expensive resort, truthfully the room itself, although nice probably isn't worth that much. You are definitely paying for the convenience of being right in the middle of Disney World and being close to everything.
If you ever have the chance to stay at the Polynesian, I would recommend it. I don't know if we will be able to stay at the Poly again, but at least we were able to experience it once!
