This is the second book in The Legends of Guardian-King series, a real treat for all fans of Christian fantasy. Abramm, a prince of Kiriath sold to slavery by his brother in the first book, now returns. He returns as a powerful warrior, nothing close to the pacifist scholarly monk he was when he had left. His treacherous brother Gillard and the rest of the kingdom are still to learn this. There is something else new about Abramm, too: he has found the true God. However, the official religion of Kiriath is different, and the faith of Abramm is largely considered a heresy.
The story lives up to the high expectations created by Book 1. I enjoyed the elaborate plot, political intrigues, and the budding romantic line as well. Abramm is my favorite character, and probably one of my favorite characters in literature. I highly recommend this book to all fans of fantasy and / or historical fiction.
