This 40th Anniversary Edition of " The Sound of Music " is an all new two disc set with over six hours of extra features including exclusive Julie Andrews interviews. Rogers and Hammerstein create some of the best loved songs that will be remembered for many years to come. This movie is a classic that the entire family can enjoy. It is a true love story that takes place in Austria. The beauty of the Austrian landscapes are truly breathtaking. Julie Andrews plays Maria and Christopher Plummer plays an Austrian widower, Captain Von Trapp. Maria is a high spirited young woman who leaves the convent to be a governess to the Captain's seven children. They clash several times, but Maria brings love and music back in the Von Trapp home. Since this takes place during World War Two, there is much adventure and a daring escape from the Nazis. This is a must see film worthy of being seen over and over again. The music is so beautiful that I would find myself singing the songs all over the house. Sometimes I would even hum the various tunes while I was out taking a walk. I do remember teaching the "Do Re Mi" song to my young children. Now I notice that my daughter sings the songs to her children. And so the lovely melodies live on throughout the years.
