I’m sure you have read, or heard of, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. If not, you can read my review of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Here are some perfect little additions to go with the book: 11 ½ x 15 inch 24 piece puzzles!
The puzzle pieces are about 3x3 inches, so they are a nice size for little hands and too big to choke on. The pieces go together well. The big bold images really make the puzzle easy for little eyes to master puzzle play at an early age.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar puzzles are constructed just as any other puzzle with cardboard and a paper image adhered to it. These puzzles are not thick or boxy like a toddler or board puzzles, so they are not the most durable. These are recommended for children age 3 and up.
These puzzles make great first “big kid” puzzles. They will teach your child to associate the puzzles with the book. Your child will also really be able to distinguish the difference between, and relation of, the caterpillar and the butterfly, which is exactly what the book is about.
My little one really enjoys doing the puzzles. The conversations we have about the book, while doing the puzzles, show me she is learning what the book sets out to teach her. I see a lot of educational value in combining the two medias. University Games Corporation really got this one right!
