The Works Thick Formula Toilet cleaner is my favorite bowl product. It works well, and is reasonably priced.
It claims to remove rust, lime scale, and hard water stains. I would say it does a decent job at all of those. It claims to disinfect and to not harm septic systems. I’ve been using it for years, and our septic system seems to be fine.
At $1.39 for 24 ounces, this is 5.79 cents an ounce.
The child-proof cap is a push down and twist style. Works reasonably easily for adults. The cap comes off the bottle completely, so you have to keep track of that.
The angle and pointed nozzle of the bottle are well shaped to get the product under the toilet rim. And you can see that The Works did cling to the sides well rather than dripping immediately into the water.
The scent of the product is sort of alkaline and chemical.
After this, it’s like any cleaner, you brush, wait a few minutes and flush. The product sudzes up so you can’t see whether you are really getting all the grime brushed off below the water line. This is one of my pet peeves about toilet cleaners.
This product hasn’t gotten out my tough stains (nothing has), but it’s the best product I’ve found at this price, and I haven’t found a more expensive one that I think is very much better.
