"The World of Animals" is a hardcover book with a full color dust jacket. The cover is instantly exciting as it has a snarling tiger on it. The inside of the book is just as visually stunning, with many colorful photographs and diagrams on each page. Kids will love looking at the pictures and learning about animals.

The book is divided into sections based on the type of animal. It starts with simple animals such as microbes, jellyfish, and corals, and then covers everything from worms to insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Each two page spread in the book covers a specific type of animal. For example, the birds section has shore birds, birds of prey, flightless birds, gamebirds, parrots, sparrows and finches and more.

The educational value of this book is high. There is a glut of information on each page, but it is organized in a user-friendly manner. Each colorful photo has a caption, and there are plenty of headings and lists to catch a curious child's eye.
