I purchased rouge aromatics Neroli Hydrosol. A hydrosol is a by-product of making essential oils. It is the water left behind when plants are steamed distilled.
When I first purchased the product, it was a clear fluid in a glass bottle with a black sprayer on top. It smelled really good, strongly of neroli. I personally think neroli smells like orange blossoms and jasmine flowers. I used the hydrosol as a fragrance, body mist and face spray. I found the hydrosol to be fragrant and refreshing.
I took a closer inspection of the spray recently and was shocked when I noticed this reddish growth growing inside! I have never had a beauty product that had "turned" in such a way.
I ended up contacting the store owner for some answers. Apparently, the rouge aromatics hydrosols are 100% preservative-free and after some time, it can grow yeast. Unfortunately, in the listing it did not say anything about the shelf life or the product's tendency to grow any unicellular fungi.
