These fingerless gloves were on a Black Friday sale for only 99 cents. I was looking for some inexpensive gloves which I could wear when shopping or going around town. These were so inexpensive that I bought three pairs, and leave one pair in the car (just in case I need them). It probably goes without saying that it is much easier to write, pick things up, or do precision work when you fingers are available. It is much easier to dial your phone or text when your fingers are not padded.
Normally I don't use these in subfreezing weather, but if I wanted to I could put a fingered glove on top of these.
For the price, I am sure that they are imported from China and are either polyester or acrylic (they are not labeled), but they meet my needs. I don't expect them to last many seasons, and there was almost immediately some slight unraveling of the stitching.
Sometimes when it is cold in the morning and I don't want to warm up the whole house, I will wear these when I am making my toast and coffee.
These gloves are free-size (one size fits all) and they can stretch a lot, so they can accommodate very small or very large hands. Another benefit is that you don't hide (or break) your fingernails!
