We cat owners must really love our cats to put up with something as disgusting as a litter box. Because of that we are almost always willing to try any product that promises to render the litter box less appalling. At least I know that is true for me. That's why I tried Tidy Cats Scoop: Small Spaces Crumble Free (with Power Pieces) cat litter. With a name that long I should have known better. This litter does clump well. I wouldn't say it crumbles any less than other brands though. It is indeed very scoopable. But just exactly how scoopable can a scoopable cat litter be anyway? It does have a nice, fresh, clean scent when it comes out of the jug. But if you claim your product controls odor then it better stand up to the test when it goes into the litter box.
The label claims that this litter "neutralizes cat box odor on contact with moisture, without overwhelming fragrance." Really? I don't think so. I found that the second this litter made contact with cat urine it released a sickly sweet stench of perfumed cat waste. This odor was so pronounced and lingering it was almost worse then the temporary smell of dirty cat litter. At least that odor goes away after you clean the cat litter box.
This sickly sweet odor also clung to my cats and when I picked them up I could smell it on their feet. Yuck. I can not recommend this cat litter if your goal is any level of odor control. In my opinion it just makes the odor worse. I guess it just goes to show, you can't perfume cat poop!
