The Ice Cap by Ice Elements is a great hair and scalp treatment that is infused with so much good stuff!
Like all Ice Elements products, the base consists of aloe vera with no added water. The other great ingredients listed include, ginger, lactic acid, salicylic acid, willow bark extract, ginseng and peppermint oil.
The peppermint oil “flavors” the whole bottle! It smells divine… both when in the bottle and while on the head.
While most users of the Ice Cap probably use it like a condition after shampooing, I prefer to use mine a bit differently. I put mine in my hair dry, massaging into my scalp about a quarter sized or more of product. While it is concentrated I like to ensure that I have an even distribution over my scalp so I may use a bit more than most. I then let the Ice Cap stay on my scalp overnight. In the morning I will rinse, then wash my hair as normal following up with my normal conditioner.
I find that using the Ice Cap at night allows for a better penetration. It makes my scalp tingle and feel alive! It also relieves any dryness or tightness, which makes this treatment especially delicious in the winter when the indoor heat dries out the scalp.
I tried using the Ice Cap as if it were a traditional conditioner, however it did not do enough for my scalp if I left it on for a short time. It would feel good… but it would be shorter lived than if I let it sit for a few hours. I also found that the Ice Cap is not very conditioning to my hair. While it does not hurt my hair, it isn’t conditioning enough. This does not matter to me because it really is not the reason why I picked up a bottle. My main concern was my scalp and it addresses this issue, so I am quite pleased with its performance.
