I needed new snow tires for my Pontiac Grand Am. In the past 4 years I have owned a 4 wheel drive vehicle here in Vermont, and knew nothing about front wheel drive tire options. One thing that is important to note is that I have a 200 mile round trip commute every day. I need to be able to arrive at work on time, and make it home safely to my children. I went online and started reading reviews for snow tires. I came across quite a few reviews for the Nokian Hakk's and how they preform in wintry mix conditions. Even though we are known for our high snow fall here, we also have a lot of sleet and freezing rain storms throughout the winter.

I decided on the tires and set out for a set of 4 that I could have studded for extra grip. I paid just under $800, for the 4 tires studded, mounted and balanced. The tread pattern clears slush easily, and the aqua track in the middle helps prevent hydroplaining when it is raining. The tires do have a noticable road noise, but they are studded and that is to be expected. If road noise bothers you there is no reason the tires have to be studded. I now have almost 5, 000 miles on these tires and I am still as happy as I was the day I bought them. I should be able to get 3 total winters out of these tires, which is a bargin, even at the high intital expense.
