I purchased this DVD (which was part of a two set) online because I remember I had caught it on television once and wanted to see it again. The plot revolves around Denise Harris (Alyssa Milano) and Roger Lewis (Cameron Bancroft) who decide to strike it rich by going to Alaska to look for gold after an enticing business proposition. Their hope for a brighter future though soon turns into a fight for survival.

I think Alyssa Milano is underrated as an actress and she definitely pulled out all the stops for this television movie. The acting had to be somewhat grueling for both actors physically because they weathered through rain, snow, constant trekking, and at one point Alyssa's character falls through a patch of ice and goes underwater. I'm sure both had to be physically fit beforehand. The plot was predictable (death was near for both but eventually they are saved and airlifted out of the woods) but you have to expect that with a television movie. This isn't exactly a feature film here and not to mention this was based on a true story. Wouldn't it be more interesting if at the end the characters actually lived and didn't perish?? Oh and I cringed when Alyssa's character offered to eat their pet dog because they were running out of food. No extras with these cheap DVDs either but you can have the language selected to Spanish if you wish. I knew I wouldn't get anything though beforehand.

Overall, I liked it. Good acting and not that bad of a plot. It's great if you are flipping through the channels and have nothing to watch. I'm a sucker for a television movie anyway.
