This was a present I bought for my mom in 2008. I was in need of a Mother's Day gift. When I saw it, I had to have it. It was just too cute to pass up! I knew that in my mom's house, she would not be able to use this as a door hanger because she has unsuitable door knobs, but I figured she would find a place for it.
The texture of the heart is soft. The stitching is raised. Some of the ribbons are silky. Some are a bit rough because they're grosgrain ribbons. The button is smooth.
I really like the colors of this. The heart is bright pink. The stitching is lime. The button is a pearly, swirly blue. The ribbons are a myriad of colors, including light pink, magenta, vibrant yellow, green and turquoise.
Many of the ribbons have polka dots or stitching on them.
I'm not sure of the materials of this 3 1/2" across heart. It was not on the product's listing at the time of sale. If I had to hazard a guess, I think the heart is made out of cotton. It is filled with some sort of stuffing, possibly poly.
I adore its style. I think of it as a hyped-up version of shabby chic. It looks handmade which it was, and it's cheery. This is exactly the type of thing I would sew if I had a sewing machine or if I hand-sewed well.
My mom absolutely loved this. She couldn't believe that I found something so apropos for the holiday, something so adorable and special. She ended up hanging it on a peg where she can see it everyday. At the top of the heart, one of the ribbons is looped to to enable hanging.
