For some time I was reseaching GPS systems for my husband whom is a truckdriver, figuring it would make his life much easier. I searched every make and brand I could find, it seemed the TomTom Go rated pretty high, so Last July I finially purchased it, and got an extended warranty for it. It worked really well, It charged quickly, the maps seemed really accurate, it was very easy to use, and navigate the touchscreen, the screen was easy to see it all types of light. It came well equiped with car charger, house charge, case, mount, and CD we didn't need to purchase any extras.
Well just last week the screen just decided to go out on it, the voice still works but, the screen is just a solid white, having no screen makes it impossible to use, as you can not type in any addresses or locations, We contacted TOMTOM and there resolution had nothing to do with the problem, and a week later we are still waiting on a proper solution to fix the problem, needless to say We really did like the TomTom till this issue occured. We are uncertain at the time if we will buy another TOM TOM in the future, I have now contacted the company from which I got the extended warranty to see if this can be repaired and to see how common this problem is with the TomTom, If this is not a common problem we would definately buy another TomTom, if it is a common problem well, you problem know, we would not.
I will keep this updated with the results.
Update On Apr 02, 2008: TomTom did finally decide to honor there warranty and fix the problem, They also assured us that this is not a common problem with this model, it was with one of there other model, but they came up with a fix for it.
Update On Jul 10, 2008: We received out Tom Tom back about 2 weeks after sending it in for repairs, it is working great, as good as new. We made sure to use it for sometime before putting in the update to be sure it was going to carry on working properly.
