Toshiba 17 Rolling Case, Not Durable

Shortly after I purchased my 17” laptop, I purchased a Toshiba 17” rolling laptop case.

The case comes in black only, has pockets for remote, cell phone, pda, cables, battery charger and more. It also has a separate padded spot for the laptop. This area is very snug to prevent jostling, so the double zipper must be unzipped at least ¾ of the way down on both sides and the laptop must be slid in the long way.

While the case is very roomy the upright position of the case is a poor design for such heavy equipment. The location of the slots for the laptop accessories are in the front of the bag which weights the bag in the front resulting in the wide feet at the base of the bag sinking in and up so that the bag cannot stand. There is a hard piece riveted onto the bottom of the bag, however this piece is not long enough, from front to back, to stabilize the bag and once the feet cave into the bag even removing the items and placing a heavy item on the bottom of the bag to straighten out the feet does not remedy the situation.

The double zipper is also poorly made. As this is an item that would be zipped and unzipped constantly the zipper should have been of a better quality. Once the warranty was past on the bag the zipper separated. There wasn’t anything caught on the zipper and that part of the case was not overstuffed, just packed regular, but the teeth of the zipper just wore down from use and the zipper pull ran off of the track.

I am very disappointed with the overall quality of this case that I paid a premium price for specifically to ensure the proper protection for my laptop and longevity of the case.

I would suggest that if you are interested in purchasing a rolling laptop case to consider one that has the wheel on the longest part of the case to increase the overall stability of the case. Also look for a good quality metal zipper and a warranty that lasts at least a year, if possible.
