Toshiba L40-17R Notebook is in general a good notebook with a very challenging price. It compromises the Due Core 2 technology of intel with a suitable amount of memory which gives a good speed for the notebook to be used in business usages.
The notebook comes with Intel Core 2 Due 1.6 (L2 cache 1MB), and 1 GB of RAM (553 MHz FSB). These are good specifications for Windows XP system. Of course there are higher specs, but of course with higher cost of notebook. The notebook comes with 160 GB SATA hard drive, which is a fast drive, but needs some special handling while installing Windows XP. This handling should be done by user, because the notebook comes with no OS. The notebook comes also with DVD RW.
The good thing is the places of USB ports. The notebook comes with 3 USB, two in the behind and one at the right, which gives flexbility in plugging mouse and other tools.
The notebook comes with 15.4 WXGA wide screen with TrueBright technology, which gives a very good image, and with Intel X3100, which gives good resolution.
The notebook comes with no Bluetooth connectivity, but it comes with Wireless B/G.
Drivers can be downloaded for free from internet website in addition to some Toshiba software packages like ConfigFree which gives control for Wireless Networks.
In general, the notebook is a very good business notebook with suitable performance and good cost. I bought it for less than 800$, which is a very good price for Toshiba notebooks.
The notebook comes with sound card that can emulate various sound effects. in addition to two stereo speakers mounted on the notebook.
Pros: Good processing power, good fast storage, good screen, good sound, good USB places and count and Wonderful price.
Cons: No OS, 2.8 KG, only 3 Hours Battery, no carrying case.
