This pole trimmer from Corona extends from 6 to 12 feet. I may only use it a few times a year, but when I do, it is indispensable..
The pulleys on the bypass cutting blade give you a lot of leverage allowing you to cut things which would be impossible with simple hand cutters. It allows you to cut branches up to one inch in diameter - if you can grab it (with the hook) you can cut it. The nylon cord seems likely to last a lifetime. The pole is made of fiberglass and won't give you splinters and is easy to grip.
The attachable saw (which I basically always leave in place) is for branches up to six inches in diameter. I have found that it is good to first cut a small notch on the bottom of larger branches before finishing from the top. This tends to prevent the branch from dropping and ripping off long pieces of bark. I use the saw at night to remove branches from the city maintained trees which encroach over my fence. Replacement saw blades are readily available at places like Lowes and Home Depot.
This pole trimmer has a Limited Lifetime Warranty (with all the normal restrictions and if you return the trimmer postage paid, yeah right).
At about $30, I think this pole trimmer is a great value. I am very happy with my Corona HomePro 6 to 12 Foot Pole Trimmer.
