Jean Sasson the author of the Princess Triology - the true life story of Princess Sultana and the life and treatment of the women of Saudi Arbia lived in the Kingdom from 1978 until 1991 as a young female seeking adventeurous trvel. She worked in Medical Affairs Administration at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre. While she was working there she met alot of the members of the Saudi royal family. One of the members was Princess Sultana Al-Sa'ud, with whom she became very good friends with.
As their friendship grew the Princess trusted Jean with her life stories, how her father didn't love her as he did her brother, and how horrid her brother and other men in her family were toward her. How she, even as a princess living in a mansion and a wealth of riches had absolutely no freedom. She told Jean of her arranged marriage, and how women in her land were given and forced to marry men double and triple their age, and how these men controlled them. Also of how alot of women were killed by members of their own family. How some women became mothers and had their children taken away from their arms to be raised by other women.
This is a very sad book, and very real, I truly feel for these women, this is a must read.
