Made in Taiwan. This is my fist hedge shear. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just something that didn't cost a fortune and would get the job done. Our hedges and bushes were starting to look like a jungle. There is a five year warranty on these shears, so I felt pretty confident about purchasing them. They have 8" blades that "are fully heat-treated high-carbon steel that stay sharper longer." Well, that's impressive. They also have "lightweight steel handles with ergonomic grips for greater comfort." I don't know how comfy I can be trimming our overgrown hedges, but the grips seemed okay - the shears were easy to hold on to, and they didn't slip or hurt my hands. This is a hand tool, so there is no noise or vibration. (Only the "snipping" sound). There aren't any safety features, but the safety guidelines advise me to wear eye protection, avoid standing on a ladder, and stay clear of electrical wires. As far as the ease of sharpening these goes, they are brand new, so I'm not worried about that right now. I don't know anything about sharpening hedge shears but, when the blades start to get dull, I imagine I will take them to a professional to have them sharpened.
