The Jara Beach Resort in Bago City, Negros Occidental, Philippines was the place to go to when I was young. It was a beach resort several minutes away from our house. It has black sand, but we didn't mind. You can go swimming in the ocean or you can choose to stay in a shallow pool, which is actually part of the beach that they concretized to simulate a pool with sea water. When it is high tide, the water goes over the barrier and it can be pretty deep, too. It had a good restaurant offering a variety of home cooked dishes at reasonable prices. They also have a variety of accommodations available, I think there are for couples, families, and big groups for over night stays. There are also pavilions of different sizes for day trips. And most of all, this place has a big training center where there is a big session hall in the middle and accommodations on the side. The accommodations occupy two levels. There were plenty of restrooms, too. This was a good place. But it was mismanaged. The place was not upgraded and the service is not maintained. We have not gone there anymore since about 6 years ago. Except for the fact that it is a beach resort and you get sea breeze, there is nothing much going on there. If people go there, it is to eat and drink and be merry. But aside from that, there is nothing to do or see.
