I like to soak dishes before putting them in the dishwasher a lot of times, and this Ultra Palmolive does help to dissolve any icky leftover stuff on them before they go in. It has a good smell and seems to do the job well on all my dishes. The best part about this stuff is that it's fairly cheap and a little goes a loooong way. One little squirt in my kitchen sink and some hot water to fill it up does all the dishes I can fit in there! It softens any baked on grossness and wipes off easily. One of my pet peeves is the ring of coffee you get on mugs. A lot of dishwashers won't get that off. Not so if you use Palmolive beforehand :) This stuff takes it all off even before you put your mugs in the dishwasher. Pans that I use to brown meats or veggies come clean, too. All that cooked on black stuff comes right off.

The downside to this product is that it is very harsh on hands. It removes oils from dishes very well, which means it'll take all the natural oils from your skin, too. If you use gloves, that's fine, but if you're like me and you go sans gloves for your cleaning, you may want to wash your hands and use a moisturizer afterwards. My hands are prone to dry skin and this does rritate them if I'm not careful. All in all, though, it does a great job for the dishes!!
