We were at Wal-Mart and I wanted a new pair of sneakers. Lately, Wal-Mart has been marking down many of their items - honestly, they went up on many of these same items, so in my opinion they are just lowering prices back to where they were.
There were a pair of white canvas and mesh cloth Danskin "Lynne" sneakers with white and shiny silver vinyl trim. These sneakers were marked at $20.00. I really liked these sneakers because they also had a velcro strap in addition to the white laces. The color of the sneakers are a bright white and the heal heighth was perfect. I am also a person that actually likes what the sole of the shoe looks like and these attracted me.
The shoes fit my foot but my ankles and feet were a little swollen, so I thought after I was wearing them, they'd feel differently. I was wrong though. Because even after my feet went back to normal, the shoes were still the same.
These sneakers were rubbing the inside of my toe area where the vinyl trimming was and I knew before long I'd start getting blisters. Needless to say, I took these sneakers back the next morning. I was only wearing them indoors and they still were feeling odd.
Now in defense of Danskin sneakers, I've had other styles that were pretty much all mesh and they have lasted a long time. But I decided that the vinyl trim that was rubbing on my feet wasn't worth it and I knew I'd put these in my closet and not wear them any more. Not wasting money, regardless of how cheap these were.
So walk around the shoe department for several minutes and if the shoe feels like it's rubbing or a little snug - put them back on the shelf and try a different style. With everyone's feet being different sizes, there will normally be one pair that will work well for you. Maybe they won't be at Wal-Mart though.
I will be going back to a different Wal-Mart to get a pair that I already have which are brown and pink with mostly all mesh. Those Danskin "Kristen" sneakers have lasted me for a good 2 years and I really love them. Guess I'll need to hit the mall for a pair of white ones.
