We spent a full day exploring Island of Adventure in Orlando, Florida.
We were excited about this theme park because of its famous roller coasters. It did not disappoint us.
First the park is set up as 5 "islands", each with it's own theme. This theme park really is more geared towards preteens and teenagers. Although older children will love it too if they like thrill rides.
We arrived here right when they opened and headed right to the Hulk, which is an impressive green giant roller coaster. You will not miss it! If you have any roller coaster fans this is a must! It has sharp turns and loops enough to satisfy any coaster fan.
My 8 year old loves it. We ended up going on this 3 times during our visit. We would have gone more if we did not run out of time. If you are not planning on getting the Express passes make sure to get on the Hulk early, the lines were very long in the afternoon.
We really enjoyed the water rides here. I thought Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw was the best log water ride I have ever been on. My family was soaked yet laughing all the way through this ride. It was a blast. This ride actually takes you under water level. You will have to go on it to see what I mean.
We all enjoyed Jurassic Park River. Young children may get scared because the dinosaurs look so real, even I jumped a few times. I do not want to spoil the ride for you, but just be prepared for anything and hang on!
Now the big one, Dueling Dragons! All roller coaster fans must ride this, there is nothing like it. There are two side "fire" and "ice" and as you are riding you come inches away from the other coaster. At times it seems like you are going to crash into the other coaster. It is wild. You are on the outside of the track, so your feet are dangling! This coaster is not for the faint of heart, but we all loved it.
All in all Island of Adventure is a great place. The employees are OK, like Universal we ran into some friendly staff and not so friendly staff.
The food here is standard theme park food. Nothing really to mention there.
The one thing I did not care for about this park is the amount of teenagers running around without supervision. Most were fine and did not case any trouble, but some were rude and did not think twice about swearing, even with younger children around. I notice this problem as the day went on and the evening was the worst.
We are huge Disney fans and that has not change, but if looking for a slight change of pace, Island of Adventure is a fun theme park with enough thrill rides to last all day.
