I have flown quite a few airlines in my time. Some stand out in my head as being wonderful, and other stand out as being horrible. I'd have to say US Airways is going to be one of those airlines that just get jumbled up with all the other run-of-the-mill airlines. In my opinion, they are just an average airline.
I'm not sure how much the tickets normally cost because this was a last minute booking due to a family funeral. We thought there was a special rate for such occasions, but the airline said they didn't do that anymore because of fuel costs. I do recall seeing this airline on the list of flights every time I book vacations, and from what I can remember they are always a bit high.
The seats on this flight were typical airline seats. Not much padding, no lumbar support, and the headrest forced your head forward. The seats did recline enough to get comfortable though. There was plenty of room for my legs to fit without touching the seat in front of me. I really liked the fact that you could stretch your legs out all the way under the seat in front of you.
The last plane we flew in our trip was a newer version of their express jets. The seats were leather instead of cloth, and were a bit more comfortable.
The flight attendants were very helpful in trying to move people around on the plane so that our family could sit together. Since we booked the day before the flight, we were spread all over the plane. The staff was very considerate with helping us in our situation with whatever we needed.
One thing I will note is that our drinks were still free (other than liquor). Starting next month, August 2008, they said they will start charging $2 for drinks and bump alcoholic drinks up to $7. I would suggest buying drinks in the terminal before you get on the plane from now on.
