My Fiance and I were recently bored out of our skulls and thought it would be great to have a game console we could play with when there was nothing else to do. We didn't have a lot of money for a fairly expensive, spur of the moment purchase like this so we went down to our local Game Stop store. For those who don't know Game Stop sells new and used gaming consoles, games, controllers and pretty much anything you need to play video games. You can even trade in your old stuff there for cash or merchandise.

We knew we would be getting a used console of some kind, the prices on new ones were totally out of range for us right now. So after looking around we settled on the original XBox by Microsoft. It was 59.99 and came with one controller and all the wires to set it up. We selected some games and another controller for it and still walked out of the store spending less than we would have for a brand new one.

It was easy to set up and it doesn't take up a lot of room. The reason I gave it a 3 for size/portability is because if you wanted to take it on a trip with you, while it's not huge by any means I still think it would be a bit cumbersome to travel with. Sitting on a shelf though, it doesn't take up much room at all.

You can watch DVD's on it too, which is cool. For some reason we can't get our DVD player to work with our main television but this works well on it so we were happy about that. My Nephew said you can pay a fee and play some games with other people too, xbox live is what it's called. I'm not interested in that but someone else may like that feature.

The games have really nice graphics, I haven't had a gaming console since the Super Nintendo so it actually took some getting used to when playing the xbox games. It didn't take long to get the hang of it though and I love the way the controllers vibrate when something happens, like crashing a car for instance.

The reason I gave it a 3 for game selection is because there didn't seem to be a lot of games that I liked, this is just me personally. There are tons of games available, my Fiance was able to find many that he wanted but I didn't find many I was interested in. I like games like Pac-Man World and The Simpson: Hit and Run and he likes games like Halo and Vietnam. So the game selection was a rating based on my personal ability to find games that I like.

We have been very happy with the console, we haven't had any problems with it at all. I know this review is supposed to be about the xbox but it's kind of about Game Stop too, I'd recommend them to anyone!
