This bands second release in 1979, sparked the late 70's with the idea of a great new act rising to the top, to set off the 80's.
The first two songs, "You're No Good', and 'Dance The Night Away' were intant hits with the party crowd. This album stayed near the top for a while as rock-n-rollers world wide grew fond of this new emerging band.
'Somebody Get Me a Doctor' is the third track on this spectacular release. With as strong of an aproach that 'Atomic Punk' had in the first release, this lick shows just how well Eddy Van Halen could make his guitar wail. The drums by alex Van Halen are non-stop through this great one.
The #4 is 'Bottoms Up', a great heavy duty song, about girls. This band knew how to promote the beach scene. This is a great song with a party room atmosphere. It is a classic jam of art.
'Outta'Love Again' is another instrumental masterpiece. Eddy's guitar and Alex's drums highlight David Lee Roths womanizer voice, as the bass giutar of Michael Anthony reverberates through your mind over and over. David can sure hit notes that can't be matched.
The next one on the list is a heavy, hard rockin', favorite at parties. This is a faster paced song that is not the norm of the band.' Light Up The Sky' is one of the bands top of the line drum smashes that take you on a trip through your own mind. I love this top notch hit. It's outta' control.
"Spanish Fly' is the instrumental of Eddy Van Halens Guitar, as if it was a love affair. Short, but awesome. This solo is a sweet 'Little' piece of art that only the best can do. Eddy is one of the best and this short reminder proves it.
My favorite song is next. 'D.O.A.' is the baddest track on this album. Though the band isn't quite relaxed in this one, it is a top favorite of mine. Dead or Alive seems to express the hard core realities of every day hardships. The police are mentioned a few times in this car chase rebel song. I liked it.
'Women In Love', and 'Beautiful Girls' finish the album off with two awesome riffs. The first, ' Women In Love' was a great love song for a rock band. The last one is a great one for sure. 'Beautiful Girls' is a bad-to-the-bone finish. David Lee Roths Smooth Voice and the co-ordination of the instruments, made this a flirt song. The album was a born classic the minute it was released, and every song was awesome. If you don't have this one in the ol' rock archives, you better get on it!
