For the photo cards that I make and sell, I need nice envelopes that will go with any of the neutral colors of card stock that I use for the cards themselves. These off-white envelopes are perfect.
These envelopes are made by Weyerhaeuser, and are 70 pound vellum. The color is labeled “Natural.” I would describe is as a nice creamy eggshell (although the flash bleached the color out in the picture). I purchased a box of 250 envelopes from Action Envelope on line for $34.21 which included shipping (and they arrived promptly). That works out to a cost of just under 14 cents each.
The envelopes are a standard 4.375 x 5.75 inches (size A2), which means that they are sized for a quarter-sheet of regular US 8.5 x 11 inch paper. Each card I make is that size, of three layers of light card stock plus a photo, and they slide easily in and out of the envelopes. The envelopes are cut square across both the sealing flap and the lower flap. They close with a regular lick-it strip of adhesive. They come in a wonderful, solid corrugated cardboard box with a lift-off top which serves to protect the remaining envelopes that I still need to store.
I have not yet used all of this first box I ordered, but there does not appear to be any envelope that is skewed or folded oddly by the machine or otherwise damaged.
I have not tried putting any of these through the printer, since I am mostly selling them blank, but I did use one to send a card, and it took the ink that I wrote on it with quite nicely. The web site says that it is suitable for both laser and ink jet printing.
There is not a lot more that one could say about an envelope, so I’ll just say that these have been just exactly what I need.
Action Envelope carries a huge line of business, fancy, and formal envelopes in a huge range of colors. This size envelope (in various weights) comes in 91 colors.
