I have been a fan of H.I.M for five years or so. Somehow, I missed out on the Venus Doom cd, in fact I did not even know this one had been released until my boyfriend gave it to me today.
Ville Valo sounds great on this cd, but I have to be honest... I really don't love any of the songs on this cd from my initial listen.
This cd contains the following tracks:
1) Venus Doom
2) love in cold blood
3) Passion's killing floor
4) The Kiss of Dawn
5) Sleepwalking past hope
6) dead lovers lane
7) song or suicide
8) bleed well
9) cyanide sun
Maybe its just me, but I really like H.I.M's earlier work, such as the cds Razorblade Romance and Love Metal. I almost hate to say this, but after listening to Venus Doom I have to ask... Did H.I.M sell out?
I think the older music is so much better than what I heard on Venus Doom. I was slightly disappointed by this cd, I was not touched by any of the lyrics and none of the songs on this cd made me want to listen to it again, immediately.
