On Monday, 7/6/09, I got a most unexpected package from Teen Vogue. It was slightly heavy, in a large padded envelope. I was so intrigued and excited. What was in this envelope? I ripped it open right away and exposed a Burt's Bees Essential Body Kit!
I got the kit by entering an online contest on Teen Vogue's website.
I was on cloud nine for the rest of the day. In fact, whenever I look at the kit I am immediately filled with glee. This was my first ever contest win!
The first item in the kit that I used was Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil. My lips have not been naked since trying this balm.
It goes on super-smooth. It feels very hydrating.
The smell is interesting. I am guessing it smells like pomegranate because of the pomegranate oil in the product. To be honest, I have not eaten a great deal of pomegranates in my life. My pomegranate experience comes down to drinking Pom Fruit Juice, maybe once or twice, and eating some pomegranate once in a very blue moon.
I think the balm smells like a slightly minty cranberry or a tart strawberry. It is a unique smell, but I like it well enough. Also, once you are wearing the balm for a little while, the smell dissipates.
The balm is not sweetened. This is good because I find sweetened balms encourage lip licking and lip licking contributes to lip dryness.
I find the product stays on for a long time, even while drinking many cups of water. I do not feel the need to reapply constantly.
On the the tube, the product says it has not been tested on animals (Yes!). This lip balm is 100% natural. The tube contains 30% post-industrial content. In fact, on the tube, there is a triangle with a 5 in it which means the tube is made out of polypropylene. If you have a recycling plant nearby, you may be able to recycle it.
The only thing I do not love is that there is no SPF in the lip balm.
