Glaxosmithkline Solifenacin Medications Dehydration Vesicare

Vesicare, also known as Solifenacin, is a prescription drug used to treat overactive bladder. Overactive bladder is when the bladder muscles contract uncontrollably and it can cause frequent urination, painful and urgent need to urinate, or inability to control urination.

I personally use it, and I can tell you it DOES work! No more "spasms" or having to find a bathroom as close to yesterday as possible! My dosage is 10 mg once a day (I take it in the morning), and it seems to do the trick!

Unlike other medications for overactive bladder, it does not make me dry at all! It can be taken with or without food. I like it a lot better than any other pill or patch available, and believe me, I have been on a number of them! All the other pills I've been on (Oxybutynin, for one) make me so dry at night that I had to keep water by my bed. Then I would have to get up and go more often because I'm drinking too many fluids because I'm dry! It was a visious cycle, let me tell you! The patches (such as the Oxytrol patch) leave you with sticky, gummy film left behind that's nearly impossible to remove!

Here are some of the side effects of Vesicare:

--Blurred vision

--Dry mouth (Note: Although dry mouth is one of the side effects, I do not experience it. I guess it depends on the person and how much hydration they get during the day.)

--Heat prostration (due to decreased sweating) can also occur in warm environments

*adding my own personal side effect here.... if you plan to go out and have a few drinks at night, take your Vesicare in the morning!I I know personally that it will heighten the effect of alcohol to the point where you cannot function!

I know of no serious long-term effects from using Vesicare, but that doesn't mean there aren't any.

Over all, if you have problems with overactive bladder, I would highly recommend you ask your doctor about Vesicare!
