I am so excited to say that I am all geared up for my second annual trip to the Villa Montana in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. We stayed in an ocean front, one bedroom villa there just last October (2006) for a long weekend. We arrived at the resort in 2am and still someone was available to check us in and to personally escort us and our luggage to our room. Even in the middle of the night, the place was gorgeous, perfectly landscaped and we could already hear the water. I couldn't wait for the sun to come up so we could see exactly how close we were to the ocean! Well, we finally awoke at about noon and checked the french doors which led to a little patio with a table and 4 chairs. Not far ahead, there it was! The crystal blue water of Puerto Rico (picture is taken from said patio). The room was huge and affordable, the food was gourmet in quality (and cheap). The beach was small but pristine and lined with the most comfortable chaises with cushions - some were fit for 2 or 3 people. The staff went above and beyond for every one of the guests. On our second day we witnessed a wedding on the property. It was small, and even though we dined at the outdoor restaurant while the wedding reception was taking place, never did it interfere with our time together. In fact, the entire time we were there we felt as though we were the only guests at the resort. A new asian restaurant was due to open after our stay, but one of the staff members took us on a tour and it was beautiful! I cannot wait to go try it out in just a few weeks.

We did not look into the activities too much, but I did see kayak and ocean sport rentals as well as bikes and information about nearby horse back riding on the beach. When my travel companion needed some sunblock, we did find out that there was no gift shop or sundry type shop on premises. We took to the streets and walked about .75 to 1 mile to find a surf shop, so that is something to take into consideration. Personally, I loved the simplicity and non-commercial nature of this place.

So, if you are looking for a romantic getaway or just a "nothing to do but lay on the beach" family vacation, this is the place for you. I will be going back with my significant other, but I also intend on going back with my 2 children as well.
