Why in the world would you want to go to Erie, PA? Well we did. We wanted a budget and family friendly beach vacation and we found it. We rented a four bedroom, two bath home in Erie, PA for under $1, 500. There was a double size bed in 3 of the rooms and 2 twins in another room. There was a living room, tv room, and dining room. The dining and living room had huge picture windows that you could look out and watch the sun set on Lake Erie or you could sit out on the nice patio.
The location of the house was perfect. We had a huge front yard that was full of tall trees. The backyard was also large and was perfect for the kids to play baseball, soccer, and blow bubbles. The beach started as the grass ended. You had a 2 min walk from the backyard down to the waters edge. On one side of the house was a small creek and on the other side we had a lovely retired couple.
We spent most days playing on the beach and enjoying the large backyard. We did take a trip into Erie, PA to visit Presque Isle State Park. It was a beautiful park that had a few lighthouses, beaches, and some historic landmarkds. While at Presque Isle we took a boat tour of the Isle and Lake Erie. That was a lot of fun. We also ate at a few resteraunts while in Erie. The location of Erie also made it possible to go to Niagra Falls for the day. It was about a 2 hour drive but it was worth it. We had never been so it made a great day trip.
We would love to go back because the house was nice, the location was great, and we loved that it was not a big tourist trap. I had a hard time finding something with Erie, PA on it to bring back home. There are a few issues though. The double size bed is really small for my six foot plus husband. Also the house did not have any air condition. It got very hot!! If the house would add a bigger bed and AC we would be there in a heartbeat.
