The premise of Viva Pinata is really clever. You've inherited a garden on Pinata Island and it's your job to populate it with flowers, fruit, trees, and pinata animals. A wonderful open-ended game, what you put in your garden is entirely up to you. The species of pinata animal that will appear vary by how you choose to let your garden grow.
This game allows the player to be so creative, and I think that's something that many games lack. Some are so locked into a story line that it's difficult to include many opportunities for decision making on the part of the player.
Colorful and fantastical, this is a great game for kids and adults alike. The controls are simple and intuitive enough that I would think children as young as 6 or 7 could successfully create their own garden world. The graphics are so rich in color that the bright world you create really comes to life. Fans of the SIM games will find this to be a really fun game to play.
I really enjoyed getting into this game, and the fact that each garden you create is unique makes it fun to replay over and over again. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something lighthearted, funny, and challenging to play.
