The Volvo S80 was my dad's car until I started unofficial driving it as the main driver. We bought the 2000 model and I started driving it in about 2004. So I've been driving it for about 3 years, and since it was a 4 year old car. We have maintained the car interior very well, and even now it has a new leather smell and look inside the car. Outside, the car shows some wear of course.
The car itself has run perfectly for all 7 years of driving, and has just over 103k miles on the car so far. We've had one major repair bill replacing the transmission, axles, and tires, which came after about 6 years of driving. Due mainly to driving on lousy streets constantly in downtown Detroit. The car's performance otherwise however has never been a problem.
Though the S80 we have is not the turbo version, this saves gas, and also reduces sound. The car runs at 75 on the freeway at a very quiet state, and makes the huge leather seats in the front and back that much more comfortable. The car is so big and has such a huge interior that it's pretty hard to park, especially in cramped underground parking lots and downtown parallel parking spots.
The car isn't fast by any means, with mediocre acceleration. But it runs quietly and smoothly at 70, 80, and even 90 mph on the freeway. It also has a 20 gallon tank which consistently gets me 450-500 miles at a time, which is the same as about 22-25 miles per gallon.
The best thing about the volvo is its safety, comfort, and luxury. It is the most comfortable safe car to drive and is also quite luxurious looking. Great car for anyone who doesn't care about horsepower or 0-60 (adolescent males, and mid-life crisis males).
