Underwear. Panties. Knickers. Whatever you want to call them, I have a hard time finding a perfect pair. Like Goldilocks and her adventures in breaking and entering, this pair was too tight, this pair was too loose. No pair was just right. Fortunately, Victoria's Secret offered me a new direction: their Modal fabric hipster panties. The perfect panty, these were sweet (ribbon and lace!) and covered just enough to be practical yet still sexy. However, they phased out the hipster style, which they replaced with 'hiphuggers'. Although saddened, I bought myself a pair and resolved to deal with it.
What I like about this pair of undies is that it is almost all around the same style as my favorite hipster--attractive, pretty patterns and colors, a cute pair of bows (one on each thigh), and a lacy trim and decoration that is soft and never scratchy. However, most of all, I love that the fabric, modal, makes you feel practically nude. I have a tough time with waistbands and leg holes that are binding or tight--I can feel them all day long, and they seriously bother me. But I might as well be wearing my birthday suit with these panties, because they are so supremely light and airy.
I do gripe, however, about the hiphugger fit. While the waistband is lovely, I've run into a problem that I never had before with the hipster style: bunching. That's right--with very little effort, these panties ride up. And I mean up. You can wind up with an accidental thong without very much effort at all. Crouching or bending is out of the question, unless you want to be pulling at a wedgie, which totally negates any sexiness you might feel in such attractive underwear. No jogging, or even a brisk walk either, unless you want to be adjusting your undergarments later on. Another issue at hand was the fact that they tend, ahem, to not cover very much in the back: I am long waisted, and these panties, when bending over, tend to show more of my derrière than I'd like.
Needless to say, I was disappointed, because these are more expensive undies than the usual Hanes 3 pack I go with, and they're so cute and yet so impractical. I'll probably save them for wearing on days when I'm at home, where wedgie-fighting is less frowned upon.
