If you can walk, you can do this video! Leslie Sansone is the undisputed queen of in-home walking videos. She has walks/workouts ranging from one mile to five miles. This particular DVD has a 3-mile and 4-mile walk. The DVD also comes with a "stretchy band" which serves the function of a resistance band in the toning section of mile 3 in the 3-mile DVD. Her workouts start off with a short warm-up and then gradually build up speed. Essentially, each mile takes about 15 minutes to complete.
Wouldn't it be boring to just march in place, you ask? Well, yes and no. You don't just march in place. She also incorporates kicks, knee lifts, kickbacks, and side steps to help you complete the mile(s). The knee lifts really help elevate your heart rate, while the side steps help to firm up your upper legs because they're sort of like mini-lunges.
This DVD does provide a decent, low impact workout, but unless you incorporate some other cardio and weight training exercises, I doubt it could firm and tone a body. I do think it's a great way to aid in weight loss- cardio is good for you!
Finally, I will admit that Leslie Sansone is a bit much sometimes. Her personality is very cheery, but too cheery for me. Her laugh gets annoying, and sometimes I find I just mute the DVD and play my own music purely to avoid hearing her. In conclusion, you cannot make excuses about cold or hot weather since you can do this with minimal space in the comfort of your own home!
