I have taken nearly a half dozen trips to Orlando during the past five years. During those trips, at least 4 of the stays have been all or partially at the Walt Disney World Dolphin - a Sheraton (Starwood) owned hotel.
First - the location is simply fabulous - right near the Epcot resorts and Boardwalk - you can walk to Epcot and/or MGM (or take the ferry if you prefer). Also - the room rates are MUCH less expensive than you would pay at a "Disney Owned' property. However, over the past few years, the property has got a much more "corporate" feel to it (ever since they completed the rennovations.) In addition, there are not many quality "family" dining choices onsite and the hotel has taken a "nickel and dime" approach that supports that fact that they are looking more towards the business traveller (i.e. the charge will just be expensed by the employee, so let's keep it out of the room rate and add it that way).
There are good "adult" dining choices at the Dolphin and nearby Swan (Westin) and the rooms were spacious, clean and generally well-maintained - but IMHO, it no longer compares with the Disney Resorts as a VACATION property.
