I bought on this DVD on a sale. I was interested by the cover and found out that Rick Moranis was on this movie. This is a 1993 production, and we could watch Rick Moranis, Eric Idle, Barbara Hershey and most shockingly, Catherine Zeta-Jones, in their early appearance. The movie is about Tommy Patel (Eric Idle) who has been raised by a Pakistan family and found out one day, that he was an adopted child. Tommy is in fact a descendant of a wealthy noble family, and is supposed to be crowned the Duke of Bournemouth. Unfortunately, that title goes to his friend, Henry (Rick Moranis) by accident. Tommy was jealous, not only because Henry steals his title and all comfort a Duke should have, but also because Henry marries the girl he likes, Kitty (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Tommy then plans on killing Henry. Meanwhile, Tommy has to deal with his biological mother (Barbara Hershey) who keeps on seducting him.
The performance of the actors was not so brilliant, maybe it was on the lousy script, I don’t know. I can’t seem to enjoy this movie: the jokes were not funny in most of the scenes, actors were just like ‘playing around’ with the characters whom they should vivify, plots that tended to a bit ‘out of path’, and the unmatched soundtrack which annoyed me most. I was like, had to frown most of the times watching how the actors joked, and their awkward performances. The story is weak too.
There’s nothing much to offer in the DVD. Sound quality is okay, but the image quality is average. All in all, it’s definitely not my taste. No wonder they had it for sale.
