Webkinz stuffed animals are little stuffed creatures with a secret code. That secret code is entered into the computer and the little animal now becomes a virtual pet! I think these are great, for so many reasons. It teaches children how to care for animals, even if they are not real, because they have to feed their pet everyday and play with it. I think it also helps with computer knowledge and skills such as typing and familiarizing themselves with the keys. My daughter is 6 and she now has 23 of these wonderful pets - everything from monkeys, to frogs, to dogs and cats, and polar bears, panda bears and so much more. The quality of the stuffed animal is good too. So essentially they are getting the value of two toys in one! I believe my daughter has become alot more computer literate since she has been on everyday taking care of her virtual pets and she is also learning about money, since you have to do "jobs" and play games to earn money to buy your pets food, clothes and beds. There is also the responsibility factor when the pet is sick, she has to take it to the online vet - so it is teaching her that as well. I am very happy with the Webkinz animals, and may even have one myself!
