I bought this beautiful hummingbird feeder still in the box, brand new at a garage sale for only $3! The price on the box was $19.99. After I got it home, I figured out why they were selling it. The first problem I found was, that the rubber stopper would not stay in the hole of the glass ball. I had to take a serrated knife and roughen up the slick rubber to get it to stay in place. After I accomplished that, I filled the ball with water to test it and found that I could not get the water to come down through the tube. I did manage to get the water to come down eventually by tipping it backwards and forwards to push the water down to the end, but then when I held it upright the water kept dripping steadily out the end. So, unfortunately, this is totally useless as a feeder.
The parts that make up the design are plastic, but look like real stained glass. The trim around the pieces is a copper colored metal. As you can see in the pictures, the design includes a flower with the center containing the clear glass ball that holds the hummingbird food with a stopper and tube where they feed, if it had worked right! At the top of the flower is a colorful little bee.
I was really disappointed that I would not be able to use this as a hummingbird feeder, but I still hung it in my garden as a piece of art.
