What Dreams May Come was an unusual movie. I don't think it was highly popular, but I enjoyed it. The movie stars Robin Williams, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Annabella Sciorra. This movie has some visual effects which are a treat for the eyes. It also has some bonus features, including commentary from the director, a "making of" featurette, an alternate ending, photo gallery, biographies and filmographies, and a lot more.
Robin Williams portrays Dr. Chris Nielsen. In the process of lending aid to an accident victim, he himself gets killed. He wants to stay close to his mortal wife, Annie, who is grieving not only his death, but the death of their two children who were killed in another accident previously. Annie cannot handle the grief, and commits suicide. Chris Nielsen travels through the supernatural to try to rescue his wife, who is now in Hell because of what she did.
This movie is intense in places, so I don't think it would be suitable for young children. It is rated PG-13, and I know it sounds depressing, but the movie is very interesting, and tells a different kind of story. If you are looking for a different type of movie (and it does have a happy ending), you might want to give this movie a try.
