What should I wear? Every woman alive (and dead, for that matter) has asked that question. What Should I Wear: Dressing for Occasions, answers that question. And the fact that it was published ten years ago and STILL answers the question is a tribute to the two authors and their obvious classic style. Kim Johnson Gross and Jeff Stone have done several books in the "Chic Simple" line. And chic simple is exactly what this book covers. The authors say "chic simple enables readers to bring value and style into their lives with economy and simplicity." They don't bow to trends and fads, but show you what really can work.
This book, loaded with gorgeous pictures (but no ravishing models, thank you), covers the four seasons, as well as other occasions. I like the way they take the same simple black dress and show in changed up for four different occassions by varying the accessories. There is a section on assembling a basic wardrobe, and ways to take a basic piece such as black pants or a white shirt and use it so many different ways. I find myself turning to this book time and time again when I just don't know what to wear. It's as much a part of my closet as my -- well, my chic simple black skirt!
