This is the first book of my favorite epic novel series, the Wheel of Time, written by Robert Jordan.
The starting may be quite boring and lengthy for some readers, but it provides a good background for the characters and serves as a good introduction for the story. You might get tempted to skip the 40 or so pages of the boring part, but in later parts of the book, and even in later books, it is this that connects our main characters despite how far they are apart. A friend of mine suggested that I may skip this, but I didn't. and I'm glad I decided not to.
My reason for reading this book initially was because one of my favorite fantasy authors, Piers Anthony, wrote a comment on the book saying that it was the best fantasy epic ever written. And I said, woah, for my favorite author to say this, Wheel of Time must really be good.
I wasn't disappointed. The writing style, the plot, the characters, they are all excellent! If you've read Lord of the Rings, you'll love this, but expect that Wheel of Time will be very much different. It's way better. It's has more depth, complexity, and you'll have a great experience reading this book.
Each book also consists of an average of 700 pages, and there are 12 books in the series. Buy this book, and buy the next books in the series!
