The title of this review is what I hear every time I use my Floppy Seat out in public- literally. Someone invariably approaches me asking where I got it, and where they can get one, whether it's for themselves or a friend/relative who is expecting. I have other moms approach me asking how I like it, and I always tell them "I love it!"
The Floppy Seat is essentially what it says- a giant, floppy seat made out of material, that has elastic edging so you can place it over shopping carts or restaurant highchairs, thereby protecting your baby from the previous user's drool-germs! It also has many "loops of fun", as the manufacturer terms it, where you can clip little toys and and pacifiers so baby can reach them, but you're not leaving a trail of toys throughout the store.
There is also a seatbelt attached right to the floppy seat, which you thread through and adjust yourself, so you don't have to use the dirty or broken seat belts that are on the cart already. It is sturdy enough and bulky enough that my 5 month old daughter was very comfortable and stable inside the Floppy seat- I'm not sure I would put her in a shopping cart without it.
My absolute favorite part, though, is the carrying case- there is a pouch on the inside of the Floppy, whcih, when not in use, you just shove the entire seat into, and you have an instant carry-tote with long handles! I just store the tucked-up Floppy in my van (sometimes I even hang from those little clothing hooks on the celiing of the van to save space) and it stays clean and ready for the next usage!
I also love the the Floppy seat is so easy to clean- you literally just throw it in the washing machine. I do hang-dry mine, just to prevent any shrinkage, although there's so much material I can't imagine a little shrinkage would even be noticed.
I highly recommend this product for anyone with a child, or looking for a great shower gift. Beware, however- it will definitely start conversations!
Update On Aug 06, 2008: Just wanted to add another useful (albeit unintentional) feature I discovered- Today when we came out of the grocery store it was pouring rain outside, and I hadn't brought a diaper bag with me, hence no blanket to cover the baby with. I just popped the sides of the Floppy Seat up and wrapped them over and around her like a hood, and she was protected from the rain!
